BMR Calculator
Basal metabolic rate (BMR) is an estimate of the energy your body needs to support basic functions while at rest. The BMR Calculator uses the information you enter to provide a daily calorie estimate for resting energy needs.
BMR formula
A commonly used Mifflin-St Jeor equation is: for men, BMR = 10W + 6.25H β 5A + 5; for women, BMR = 10W + 6.25H β 5A β 161, where W is weight in kilograms, H is height in centimeters, and A is age in years.
Using the calculator
Enter your age, sex, height, and weight in the requested units. Review the inputs before calculating because even a small measurement error can change the estimate.
BMR versus daily calorie needs
BMR represents resting energy needs, not the total calories you normally burn in a day. Daily energy expenditure also includes physical activity, digestion, and other movement.
